5 Skin Sins
January 15, 2020
Want gorgeous, healthy skin? Start by making sure you don’t commit any of these skin-damaging crimes.
Sin 1: Not drinking enough water Staying hydrated is essential for the overall health of one’s body, and it’s an important step towards healthy, glowing skin. Drinking waters helps rid your skin of toxins and it’s a great way to keep skin plump. Dehydration can cause your skin to appear duller, and wrinkles and pores to stand out more.
Sin 2: Forgetting to take your makeup off before bed Ladies – this one’s for you.
Taking off your makeup before bed can seem time consuming and tedious, but it’s a MUST. Your skin renews itself while you sleep, and when you leave makeup on, you are preventing that from happening. Leaving makeup on overnight can lead to flaky, dull and dry skin.
Sin 3: Skipping the sunscreen Whether it’s cold or hot out, it’s important to wear sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun’s powerful UV rays. Not only will sunscreen protect your skin against sunburn, it will also keep your skin looking younger by slowing down the development of wrinkles and leathery skin.
Sin 4: Smoking It’s no secret that smoking is bad for your health, but did you know that it also makes your skin age faster? Smoking deprives skin of oxygen and nutrients and leads to sagging, roughness, wrinkles and dullness. When you quit smoking, your body’s collagen production returns to normal levels, so your skin appears healthier and more vibrant.
Sin 5: Too much sugar Got a sweet teeth? We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but sugar has a major effect on your skin. Too much sugar can damage collagen and elastin – the youthful proteins that give your skin its firmness and elasticity. Sugar also causes inflammation which can lead to swelling and breakouts. To keep your skin looking its best, swap candy with fruit, soda for water, and cut back on processed, packaged foods.
